Faro in Citta’: a good practice of migrant children integration from Italy

The project by Fondazione L’Albero della Vita, a Eurochild member, with the support of the municipality of Milan, is one of the 16 case studies included in the Let Children Be Children report produced by Eurochild and SOS Children’s Villages International.

On 23 January the Foundation has met with public authorities and the media to present the report and illustrate the ’Faro in città’ project. During the event Ivano Abbruzzi, president of the organization gave the report to Pierfrancesco Majorino, council member and head of the social affairs department in Milan.

“Faro in città” started during in 2016 and provides assistance to families with children who are seeking asylum in Italy and to those that will be relocated in other EU Member States. The project includes accommodations,  psycho-educational support and other services to allow integration of families on a long term as it aims at allowing families to be independent. So far the project has helped 594 people in total, of which 290 were minors.
