Reaching for an Inclusive World: CATS Forum 2017

The latest edition of the CATS Forum brought together participants from all continents and the most numerous delegations came from France, United Kingdom and Israel.

The yearly CATS (Children as Actors for Transforming Society) Forum where children and adults come together for 7 days in an enchanting castle in Switzerland reached another milestone this year. With participants from all continents, 40 % being children, the 5th edition of the CATS Forum addressed the goal of creating an inclusive world for all.

Eurochild was delighted to support CATS as an associate partner,
together with few of our member organisations. CATS is run by Initiatives et Changement France, Child to Child, Caux - Initiatives of Change Foundation, Universal Education Foundation and Eurochild.

Participants had the opportunity to live a unique and international experience in which children and adults exchanged their views respectfully in order to achieve a more inclusive society. Participants came to Switzerland to dig into this topic together, looking at inclusive societies from different directions such as where they grow up, where they learn, where they take care of their bodies and minds, where they represent their peers, where they live, play and are creative, and where they hang out.

On the last day, all groups then came together and used recyclable materials to build a model of their idea of an inclusive world.

If the world looked more like CATS, then there would be no wars, there would be nothing serious. We could all be equal and everyone would respect, and the world would be fine ", said Amélie Nissen, 11, from the United Kingdom.
