Report from the European Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions

On 15 September 2014 the European Commission has adopted a report on the implementation, results and overall assessment of the 2012 European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.

According to the report, EY2012 has helped convey a more positive image of population ageing by highlighting the potentials of older people and promoting their active participation in society and the economy. It has managed to mobilize numerous governmental and non-governmental actors, and many Member States and civil society organizations have used the European Year as an opportunity to develop new initiatives or strengthen their existing ones.
