Germany - Country Profile 2022 on children in need

Eurochild recently published a new report, (In)visible children, on the situation of children in need across Europe. Read feedback from our members from Germany on the European Semester, on EU funding, and on the development of the Child Guarantee National Action Plans and further analysis on child poverty and social exclusion

In our latest report, (In)visible Children - Eurochild 2022 report on children in need across Europe, together with our members we urge governments and decision-makers to support the most vulnerable children and prevent widening inequalities.

Eurochild members, the Child and Youth Welfare Organisation (AGJ), the German Children’s Fund (DKHW) and the National Coalition Germany – Network for the Implementation of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child (NC), were pleased to see that the country report reaffirms the rising levels of poverty in Germany. However, they remark that the report has no particular focus on investing in children and only mentions children's issues superficially and in other contexts.

When it comes to funding priorities, Eurochild members from Germany call on the German government to prioritise investment in reducing poverty and social exclusion, in fostering social inclusion and equality, and in promoting child and youth participation.
