Beyond Pseudo-Participation: Empowering Youth Voices and Creating Child-Friendly Municipalities

8 October 2024; 09:30 – 10:30 CET; Albert Borschette Conference Centre, AB-4A, Brussels.

Registrations now open for Eurochild and partners’ transnational workshop on child and youth participation at local municipal level, as part of the 2024 European Week of Regions and Cities.

As part of this year’s EU Week of Regions and Cities, Eurochild and our partners in the EU-funded Child Citizen project are organising a roundtable discussion on Empowering Youth Voices and Creating Child-Friendly Municipalities.

Many young people avoid political discussions due to low democratic self-confidence. Others make their voices heard but experience pseudo-participation. Based on cases from Denmark, Hungary, Slovakia and Norway, this workshop lets participants explore ideas and good practices for meaningful involvement of children and young people in democratic processes and decision-making, and stronger cooperation between the youth and local and regional actors, services, and professionals.
