Eurochild Greek members' feedback on the European Child Guarantee Implementation
Greek members of Eurochild have shared key concerns following their review of the Biennial Report on the Implementation of the European Child Guarantee.
Greece has recently submitted the translated version of the biennial report assessing the implementation of the European Child Guarantee (ECG). These reports provide an overview of the context, target groups, and services established to implement the ECG National Action Plans. They also include sections on indicators, financing details, and insights from the implementation process.
According to our members, while looking at these reports, it is important to highlight one major issue which is the lack of consultation with civil society organisations (CSOs) and children during the report’s preparation—dialogue was limited only to Ministries and public authorities, despite the report’s aim to protect and promote children's rights.
They also note the absence of specific indicators to monitor progress and the continued lack of a central database with disaggregated data across all areas covered by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, both of which are essential for effective implementation.
Given the report’s wide scope, Greek Eurochild members have provided selected comments on specific sections, highlighting the need for more inclusive, transparent, and data-informed approaches in future reporting.
