Eurochild member PAJE receives Human Rights Prize by Portuguese Government

Every year since 1998 the Portuguese Parliament gives the Prémio Direitos Humanos to idividuals or organisations who promote and protect human rights.

On 13 December 2023 the Human Rights Prize was awarded to two organisations that have worked on the ground in the area of child protection: P.A.J.E. – Plataforma de Apoio a Jovens ex-Acolhidos, for their work to promote the social inclusion of young people who lived in foster care, supporting them in everyday bureaucratic situations and giving psychological and legal support, through the knowledge and experience of volunteer professionals, and ProChild - Collaborative Laboratory, for its work in combating poverty and social exclusion in childhood.

PAJE also took part in the Reaching In project run by University of Central Lancashire, Eurochild and University of Barcelona and co-created a report bringing together insights from professionals, children and young people on how to strengthen Children’s Participation in the Child Guarantee.
