Daphne-CHILD programme: Addressing violence against children

Eurochild Secretariat and the Eurochild Children’s Council exchanged on how children can be involved in the new Daphne-CHILD programme on violence against children.

On 5 November, Eurochild programme leads met with representatives from the Eurochild Children’s Council to discuss our new 3-year Daphne-CHILD sub-granting and capacity-building programme for civil society organisations (CSOs) working to tackle violence against children in 9 European countries. Our expected impact is to improve child protection services across Europe taking into account children’s opinions.

Across the programme’s lifecycle, we will sub-grant a total of 1.3 million Euro to small, local, remote and/or rural CSOs and community-based organisations, who are active in the field of preventing and combating violence against children.

The Eurochild Children’s Council gained a clear picture of their co-design role and of what the Daphne-CHILD programme is all about: what we want to achieve, who we want to support, who is helping us, what types of activities can be funded, and how child participation is central to the programme.

Organisations who want to receive funding will need to include children in their design and carrying out of activities.

The Eurochild Child Participation team will assess the child protection policy and safeguarding procedures of each organisation selected for funding.

On 3-4 December we will co-deliver a workshop on child participation and safeguarding with the Eurochild Children’s Council.

The Eurochild Children’s Council will also be invited to actively participate in the capacity-building activities that will be carried out in the next years and to express their interest in getting involved in the funded initiatives at (sub-)country level.
